Kids' Summer Camp 2022
Summer camp was a full week of sun, fun, and learning a tough escrima stick form.
Summer Camp Day 1: We kicked off our 2022 Summer Camp for kids by starting to learn a form with the escrima sticks! We played games and worked on decorating our escrima sticks, and our older campers started a great discussion on the qualities of good leadership.
Summer Camp Day 2: Sun and Fun as we finished painting our escrima sticks and got in LOTS of great practice after we hiked to the park in the morning. The afternoon brought more great discussions on leadership, the martial arts, and our Shaolin Five Animals rules.
Summer Camp Day 3: THE WATER BATTLE was EPIC! It was roasting hot and just about everyone got well soaked - including Master Steve who was a dead shot with his water blaster. Water balloons and the final bucket dump made sure that everyone left the field cool and refreshed.
Summer Camp Day 4: Another great day at camp with morning games followed by a brief meditation and a 3+ miles of hiking in Frick Park (with escrima practice along the trails.) Today was pizza day so everyone had their choice (and their fill) of pizza for lunch. The afternoon was more practice of the escrima stick form - it’s not an easy one - and a great leadership discussion on Bystander Intervention.
Summer Camp Day 5: What an AWESOME finish to this year's Summer Camp! Donuts, stick drills, board breaking, and a demonstration of the form the students worked hard to learn throughout the week. We are so proud of everyone!
