The start of the Year of the Fire Horse has us thinking about horses, how they relate to the martial arts, and what they can teach us. Many of our students have heard us talk about the concept of humility in classes, and we'll be emphasizing humility and its association with the horse throughout this year. Humility is a core principle of martial arts practice, from our basic horse stance to our ability to learn and grow from others and from past experiences. Read more about Humility and the Horse in this month's blog. How can you apply humility to your practice in the martial arts or elsewhere in your life?
As we "kick off" March, read on for news and registration links for upcoming events, including our annual summer camp for kids and teens and a SETpoint self-defense and personal safety workshop. In addition, please take note of the following:
- Don't forget to spring ahead and change your clocks on Sunday, March 8th.
- NEW class options have begun! Dragons have a new option on Saturdays at 1:30pm, and there's a new class for adults on Fridays at noon.
- The outdoor class returns this month on Wednesdays and Saturdays, weather permitting.
- Beginning in June, we are requiring black uniforms and black t-shirts for all students below Black Belt ranks. Black Belts may mix the colors of their gi pants and jackets according to rank.
