At least once a month, we’ll publish stories of our students’ journeys, events at the dojo, or in-depth analyses of techniques. Subscribing to our blog is a great way to get to know our dojo community of students and instructors!
Sensei Rosanna
Sensei Rosanna is a 3rd Degree (Sandan) Black Belt who began studying with SDSS in 2008. She’s had a love of the martial arts since she was a child, and she studied as a teenager before taking a break for other things in life including pursuing her career as a Registered Nurse. Her two boys, Adam and Matthew, began studying with SDSS first, and it wasn’t long before she joined them. “I realized how much I really missed it, even many years later.”
Sensei Rosanna has been a staple in our Zoom classes since the start of the pandemic. Her love of the martial arts is evident in her teaching. “Each time I teach, the students learn something and I learn, too. I appreciate that each time I work with a student on a new technique or form, they get the excitement of learning something new while I get the opportunity to review and keep practicing.”
Sensei Rosanna loves that every student’s journey is different: “It’s all about each person’s goals.” Whether you’re young or not-so-young anymore, whether you have physical challenges or injuries you’re working through, there are variations and modifications you can make to keep training.
We are grateful to Sensei Rosanna for her dedication to the martial arts and for the example she sets as a student, an instructor, and a leader.
